Most fans might call it Mecha, but we're really talking about the Super Robot sub-genre; a genre where giant robots are spanned from the world of Japanese monsters, often because its fantastical metal giants battle living beasts, or the robots themselves are just as wild as Godzilla and brethren. From Tetsugin 28, to the Super Robot boom of the 1970's which brought forth Voltron, to modern entries in the genre like The Big O and Gurren-Lagann. And even American inspired projects like Megas XLR and The Iron Giant. This gallery is also open to the few live action entries of the genre, like Toho Production's Gunhed, the insanely action packed Super Robot Red Baron, Toei's Iron Robot 17 (AKA Brain 17), and the unofficial Robo Jox trilogy. To get an even better idea of what we're looking for in this gallery, you can read the following article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Robot We should also note, that although often called a Mecha series, the bio-mechanical / cyborg beasts of shows like Neon Genesis Evangelion and RahXephon, best belong in the Kaiju from Animations section. ****
