Greetings one and all, EarthBaragon here to announce to you a little contest that I have started. This is not a KaijuDen Art Jam, but my own personal little Jam that I have been asked to share with the rest of you all!
You can see practically the same post over on my page but I am going to repost it here with some slight modifications.
I want to have a contest for people to design their own Tyrant monster variation. If you don't know, Tyrant is an Ultraman Monster from the series Ultraman Taroh. He is a Chimera monster...meaning that he is just an amalgamation of different monsters all thrown together. He is one of the best examples of a well planned monster with this idea. I mean if you did not know, you would swear that every piece of him was original for that suit! Tyrant is not the only monster that has used this idea......but he is the best. Jumbo King and Ezmael and Giga Chimera have gone the route of the Chimera monster.............with less than stellar results. Jumbo King is like Tyrant, (what with the different parts......but he is not nearly as well planned out). Ezmael however went a different way with the Chimera monster road. His main body and head is original....but all over his body is the rest of the heads of all the monsters in Ultraman Nexus TV series! So he is kinda cool.......in a weird way. Giga Chimera was the main villian in one of the recent Ultra films. Again this is a monster that finds most of it's Chimera like abilities......based off just the heads of the monsters that make it up.
Anyway....with all the Ultraman series, there is nearly a thousand monsters out there, of all different shapes and sizes. Surely there is a combination of monsters that could rival the coolness of the original Tyrant! So the rules are simple. Just take any combination of Ultraman monsters....and create your own Tyrant! Just Ultraman monsters. Sorry, no Godzilla, Toho, Gamera, or other giant hero series can be used. You can use as many monsters as you want, or as few. But I would advise that the more that you used, might get yourself into the "jumbled" territory. I would probably keep it less than a dozen. Again you do not have to, but this is just my advice that might help with conceptualizing for you guys. Contestants will be judged by me, and the winner will get a full inked and colored illustration of something they want. (just keep it to one or two monsters or figures please. I don't want someone to say I WANT A DESTROY ALL MONSTERS POSTER!) That's basically it. And since I so nice! (cause honestly going through all those monsters, picking what pieces you want is time consuming), I will give ya till............October 1st. That's about a month in a half. I will make my own monster, but probably won't show it off till near the end of the contest. To be honest I only got about half of my creature figured out lol.
Full critique for everyone though, on their pieces.

You know, that little piece of your mind that gets slapped down by the drolls of everyday life and work Haha, have fun and I can't wait to see what you all come up with! And here is the best thing! You have till October 1st! So I don't wanna here I didn't give you enough time folks

Kaiju Videos for May 2020 part 2
Here's a new collection of May kaiju vids to enjoy, pretty cool stuff, especially the new Wikizilla video :D
Wikizilla posted a video about everyone's favorite subterranean sea beetle god, Megalon! Seriously, WHEN is Megalon returning to the big screen? Gigan got a comeback, complete with H.R. Geiger influenced redesign, so why not his drill beetle buddy as well? Legendary, Toho, one of you make this happen already.

Happy Birthday to Akira Takarada
Today is the birthday of classic Toho leading man, Akira Takarada! He's a familiar face to all of us kaiju fans who've grown up watching Godzilla movies from the Showa era all the way through to the Heisei and Millennium eras (plus that scene they cut out from Godzilla 2014 lol), and who've been lucky enough to meet him in person at conventions around the world. He's given us so many happy memories and as someone who's met him in real life, seems like a very friendly man overall, so I wish him a very happy 86th birthday, and many more!

DaiGuard The Complete Series FREE TO WATCH
Crunchyroll has recently uploaded the slice-of-life-office-comedy-giant-robot-vs-giant-monster-adventure series DAI GUARD onto their public online and streaming sites, the complete series with both subtitles and English dubbing for free access.

While the series isn't wall-to-the-wall monster action, its definitely a lot of fun and, as my friend KaijuDuke has noted, one can appreciate it a lot more now as an adult than as a teenager with a working man's perspective but it's still bright and upbeat enough for children to get into - worth seeing for both the mecha vs monster action and, of course, the slic
