"Godzilla" 2014 Merchandising News
posted a bunch of tidbits related to the upcoming "Godzilla" reboot, which we should be seeing more of, considering the film is less than four months away! Hopefully, this isn't Warner Bros. trying to screw over Legendary Pictures with lack of advertising, like they somewhat did with "Pacific Rim".
And a related link on the DVD re-releases of "Godzilla vs The Sea Monster", "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" and "Godzilla vs Gigan".

Entertainment Tonight Canada on the Set of "Godzilla 2014"
If you can survive the horribly cheesy, 'hip' fluff of this...well, Fluff Piece, you'll be getting a sneak peek at some new moments from the upcoming film. And again...strange how the American edition of Entertainment Tonight isn't covering this same set visit. I call conspiracy onto you Warner Bros!

"Chikyuu Bouei Miboujin" AKA "Earth Defense Widow" (Japan 2014)
Japanese director Minoru Kawasaki has been responsible for a number of well-received, and quite funny absurd comedies, often staring out-of-place talking animals and non-human creatures. Unfortunately, he's most well known here in America as the guy behind the under-whelming Guilala spin-off "Monster X Strikes Back: Attack on the G8 Summit" (2008).
Despite that disappointing dud, Minoru is heading back to the Kaiju genre with "Earth Defense Widow"; a comedy about an Earth defense Force team-member who can't help herself being sexually aroused by (and falling for) a giant monster that she's also currently fighting.
Thankfully the movie is NOT a porno, but a 1960's style 'light-sex comedy', and with some decent Kaiju mayhem and old-school effects thrown into the mix.

"Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger" (Japan 2014-2015)
So yeah...The next entry into the 'oh lord, when are they going to take a break from it' Super Sentai franchise is "Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger". And it's a train-based superhero team, complete with giant, garishly colored train robots.
I love it when Super Sentai tries to do something new and different, instead of repeating the same motifs and themes over-and-over again (Ninjas, Dinosaurs, Future Cops, Cars), but the suit and giant robot designs for this series are just...well...you better see for yourselves in the following collection of "Tokkyuger" articles.

"Red Jade" (China 2014)
Later this year, (or next year in 2015), China hopes to unleash there own big budget take on the Ultraman-style hero versus alien monsters epic "Red Jade". This is probably a response to "Pacific Rim", and how popular it was in China, but this still doesn't make up for the debacle that was "Metal Kaiser"!

"The Dragon's Pearl" (China / Australia 2011)
Although several years old, this Chinese and Australian co-production is finally seeing ingeminate release as of now. And is a family-adventure film, centered around a giant gold dragon, who also happens to have one of the worst roars I have ever heard in the Kaiju genre. And trust me, I have seen A LOT of giant monsters to know what I'm talking about here!

"Fear Force Five" (US 2013-2014)
A new live action web-series about a team of specialists taking on horrific and gruesomely silly monsters. Like their very first challenge - a giant zombie pirate, teaming with parasitic mutant sea predators. The horror-comedy uses practical creature effects, as series creator and director Jack Perez is a Kaiju fan and veteran of Syfy Pictures, whose as equally sick an tired of the CGI overkill as we are.

"Charge on Themis - Titan Soldiers" (Japan, 2014)
Again, there's a big difference between a 'Light Sex Comedy' and true erotica. And some twisted people in Japan got together to make a low-budget porno parody of "Attack on Titan". Everyone...sigh with me.

Big G Times - Legendary 2014 Edition - JanuaryOof, been awhile, hasn't it kids?!
- Firstly, the BIG news! Kraken Releasing (yes, that's what they're called) is putting out not one, not two, but THREE Godzilla flicks on Blu-Ray this year!

GODZILLA VS. HEDORAH
GODZILLA VS. GIGAN
Thusfar, all that's confirmed are dual language tracks, but special features and/or whether or not any of the films will have their respective American-produced dubs (superior in quality to the "international" dubs) have yet to be mentioned. Given that it's a relatively small set from a new company under the Section 23 label, we can at least hope for more than the drag-and-drop releases from Sony a few years back.
- Secondly, a hardcover graphic novel adaptation of GODZILLA (2014) is being released by DC (though sources say it might be Legendary Comics) - either way, Art Adams, Eric Battle, an

Here's a new collection of May kaiju vids to enjoy, pretty cool stuff, especially the new Wikizilla video :D
Wikizilla posted a video about everyone's favorite subterranean sea beetle god, Megalon! Seriously, WHEN is Megalon returning to the big screen? Gigan got a comeback, complete with H.R. Geiger influenced redesign, so why not his drill beetle buddy as well? Legendary, Toho, one of you make this happen already.

Happy Birthday to Akira Takarada
Today is the birthday of classic Toho leading man, Akira Takarada! He's a familiar face to all of us kaiju fans who've grown up watching Godzilla movies from the Showa era all the way through to the Heisei and Millennium eras (plus that scene they cut out from Godzilla 2014 lol), and who've been lucky enough to meet him in person at conventions around the world. He's given us so many happy memories and as someone who's met him in real life, seems like a very friendly man overall, so I wish him a very happy 86th birthday, and many more!

DaiGuard The Complete Series FREE TO WATCH
Crunchyroll has recently uploaded the slice-of-life-office-comedy-giant-robot-vs-giant-monster-adventure series DAI GUARD onto their public online and streaming sites, the complete series with both subtitles and English dubbing for free access.

While the series isn't wall-to-the-wall monster action, its definitely a lot of fun and, as my friend KaijuDuke has noted, one can appreciate it a lot more now as an adult than as a teenager with a working man's perspective but it's still bright and upbeat enough for children to get into - worth seeing for both the mecha vs monster action and, of course, the slic

Take this with a slight grain of salt but according to Amazon, Mill Creek is releasing "Godzilla the Complete Animated Series" on DVD in April.
