You read the title correctly folks, after years and years and YEARS of waiting, the long lost first entry of Godzilla's Heisei era is finally returning to U.S. shores in both DVD & Blu Ray format! Well, okay, we DID have the Americanized version Godzilla 1985, which is enjoyable in its own right of course, but is stuck in legal limbo & has never been available on dvd or blu ray in North America, & is typically considered to be the lesser of the two versions of the film, much like Gojira & Godzilla King of the Monsters, only with more Dr. Pepper lol. However, we've NEVER had the original Japanese version of the film available to us at all, period, here in the U.S., so this is a pretty big deal, especially since we'll FINALLY have every past Godzilla film to date on home video, and its about time if you ask me (I was hoping my niece wouldn't be in college before I finally got my hands on this film XD). Now, based off my research, it doesn't sound like we'll be receiving both the "Return of Godzilla" & "Godzilla 1985" with this release unfortunately, but apparently there maybe an English dubbed version of the Return of Godzilla included with the Japanese version with English subtitles (let us hope the dub is a cut above what we usually get for Godzilla english dubs these days, for the sake of the film's dramatic tone). At any rate, regardless of the dubs quality, we're still getting the much desired original version of the film, & that's not too shabby. The good folks behind this very much welcome surprise is Kraken Releasing, who also brought us the blu ray releases of other Goji films including Godzilla vs Hedorah & Godzilla vs Gigan, & Godzilla vs the Sea Monster.
I learned of this news from August Ragone's blog (of course! lol), and you can read all of the available details here in the link below

Kaiju Videos for May 2020 part 2
Here's a new collection of May kaiju vids to enjoy, pretty cool stuff, especially the new Wikizilla video :D
Wikizilla posted a video about everyone's favorite subterranean sea beetle god, Megalon! Seriously, WHEN is Megalon returning to the big screen? Gigan got a comeback, complete with H.R. Geiger influenced redesign, so why not his drill beetle buddy as well? Legendary, Toho, one of you make this happen already.

Happy Birthday to Akira Takarada
Today is the birthday of classic Toho leading man, Akira Takarada! He's a familiar face to all of us kaiju fans who've grown up watching Godzilla movies from the Showa era all the way through to the Heisei and Millennium eras (plus that scene they cut out from Godzilla 2014 lol), and who've been lucky enough to meet him in person at conventions around the world. He's given us so many happy memories and as someone who's met him in real life, seems like a very friendly man overall, so I wish him a very happy 86th birthday, and many more!

While the series isn't wall-to-the-wall monster action, its definitely a lot of fun and, as my friend KaijuDuke has noted, one can appreciate it a lot more now as an adult than as a teenager with a working man's perspective but it's still bright and upbeat enough for children to get into - worth seeing for both the mecha vs monster action and, of course, the slic
